Summary
Effective July 1, 2025, external users will lose access to content shared before enabling Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive integration with Microsoft Entra B2B. To restore access, resharing is required. Notify users and update internal documentation accordingly. External sharing will use Microsoft Entra B2B Invitation Manager.
When this will happen:
Starting July 1, 2025, any links shared with people outside your organization before you turned on Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive integration with Microsoft Entra B2B will stop working.
What this means for you:
If your organization has already enabled this integration—or plans to do so—external users will lose access to any files, folders, or sites that were shared with them before the change. To give them access again, you’ll need to re-share those items.
From now on, sharing with external users will go through Microsoft Entra B2B Invitation Manager.
If someone tries to use an old link, they’ll see an error message saying something went wrong and that they should contact the person who originally shared the item to get a new link.
External users attempting to use these older links will encounter the error message “Sorry, something went wrong. This organization has updated its guest access settings. To access this item, please contact the person who shared it with you and ask them to reshare it with you.”
Conclusion
✅ If EnableAzureADB2BIntegration = False (no integration enabled):
- Your tenants are not affected.
- The legacy one-time passcode (OTP) external sharing continues to work normally.
- There’s no forced resharing, no link invalidation, and no requirement for guest invites via Entra B2B.
⚠️ If EnableAzureADB2BIntegration = True (integration enabled):
- Starting July 1, 2025, any previously shared links using the one-time passcode method will stop working.
- External users must be re-invited via Entra B2B Invitation Manager.
- Attempts to use old links will trigger an error.
- After integration, all new sharing goes through Entra B2B, and external users must go through that flow (including MFA, conditional access, etc.)
